Grooming is carried out to remove the course grasses in the lawn.

It can also be used to remove trailing grasses. Grooming cuts the stolon which in turn promotes upright growth. It also prevents mottle looks. For this to happen we need to get the blades as close to soil as possible using the same technique as scarification except we are not cutting out the grass in this instance simply letting the blades of the machine score the soil.
