DRY SOIL – PATCHY LAWNS
If you notice lately that your lawn is becoming patchy and off colour, Greenfeet had many queries from customers already in early Summer and this is totally due to the soils been so dry. A grass plant is the same as any plant it needs sufficient moisture, when the moisture is not present the plant will wilt back and discolour to light green to almost hay like. So fingers crossed that we see a change in weather pattern and start to see more rain. As mentioned in the open letter if we don’t get rain there will be restriction on water usage.
So, you should consider the below for dry lawns:
- Raise height of cut
- Drop frequency of mowing to every 2 – 3 weeks
- Consider using wetting agents to help maintain moisture in your lawn
- Return the clippings
