Lawn Treatment – Consider the time of year, we thought our next blog post should look at the area of lawn treatment, in particular as we are only a few months from Spring – spring lawn treatment! We’ll try our best to offer some advice…..
Let’s address the lawn treatment basics, What Grass Length?….during the springtime, keep your grass length to 35mm. If your lawn is used for admiration rather than constant use, drop the grass length to 20mm in length.
Lawn Treatment – The Basics
Mow Your Lawn Regularly
Mow your lawn regularly, if you leave the grass too long in-between cuts, this can lead to problems down the road. The rule of thumb for lawn treatment and mowing is that you should cut your grass, when its length is 12mm longer than your set length. So, if it’s Spring time and you want to get the grass length to 35mm, cut the grass when its length is 47mm in length.
Lawn Food – See our Greenfeet lawn food products on our shop page and also our great 10 euro grass care package, which is great value. Early spring is a great time to use lawn food, this will enhance the growth and vigour of your lawn and also squeeze out any prospect that weeds might set in.
Raking or Scarifying
Just like giving yourself a good scrub in order to get rid of that dead skin! Grass is no different! You must rake your grass and get rid of any dead matter that invariably builds up over time. So, buy yourself a good spring rake from our online shop if you have a small lawn, or for larger lawns you might want to consider a mechanical scarifier.
Your Lawn Cuttings
Although grass cuttings can be a real pain when people (and the dog!!) walk through the house and leave grass everywhere. However, the cuttings do offer an opportunity to filter nutrients back into your lawn. I know it’s a small inconvenience but leaving the grass cutting on the lawn will act as a form of lawn treatment.
